...waiting for the final 'Go'
All set for the final race? Now getting a little anxious about the run...
15,000 runners registered for the marathon. Of course, there will be many more coming in to cheer and perform.
Heard that the course is tough especially the second half. It includes 3 hills with a lot of down hills which makes it all the more challenging. Man! last long run was a killer! 6 miles felt like 12 miles in the hot scorching sun on the Los Gatos Creek Trail last Saturday. Hope it doesn't heat up that much.
The second half starts at 8:20am and the time limit is 3 hrs 30 mins. Now the only concerns are -- will it be too hot? or will it be cold? will I be able to make it within the time limit?
The pressure is now building up... just a few more hours to go...

10 miler on Alameda Creek Trail
Hush!! what a feeling after successfully completing a 2-digit mileage! :-) The important part being I finished strong and with a smile. My longest run so far..
Every additional mile feels like a big accomplishment. Especially it's a good start for the weekend regardless of whether I am able to get anything else done later ;-) Now a half-marathon seems doable.
We ran on the Alameda Creek Trail in Fremont. Another pretty trail.. wasn't shaded all through but there were patches of shade in between. It was overcast a little more than half way, also we started pretty early at 7am today. Got a little bit of training in the sun as well. So over all a good training run.
Looking back, puts me in an awe.. wondering how I ran so many miles at a stretch!?
My achilles tendon gave me a little trouble during the last few miles. Coach Rajeev Char advised to get a massage from SMI.
Stay tuned for the San Francisco Marathon updates...

9 miler on Sawyer Camp Trail
Can't believe I did a 9-miler last saturday. The group ran on Sawyer Camp trail. The trail is very beautiful. I also saw a deer on the way :-)
Thankfully it was all shaded despite the hot sun. The last couple miles were the toughest and it got sunnier then. I was feeling very hungry and thirsty. Would be a good idea to carry a fuel belt.
The feeling after completing a long run is just too good. Thankfully I finished well with no injuries. Gulped some food and water after getting back, stretched a little. Man, but this place in San Mateo is just too good. One of my friends was saying that the area San Mateo itself is very pretty. Should make it a point to revisit this place in the future.
Thanks to the Asha team who organizes all our runs so well and everything goes on so smoothly that no one ever realizes that there were so many things to take care of for a group as big as a couple hundred runners. All their effort is really worth appreciating!
